Whether you have recent storm damage or an older roof ready for replacement, you may be ready to have contractors look at your roof and any interior damage caused by issues on your roof.

Roof work can be daunting, especially if you have been shocked by unexpected storm damage. We have seen many customers in your position in our 38 years of business. And at Linta Roofing we strive to provide you with extra information that will take some of that stress off of you.

Whether you are receiving multiple estimates or just one, there are a few things to know that will prepare you for an easy roof inspection. Here you will find a few simple steps you can take to make the roof inspection process much easier for you!

1. Set Aside Time for the Inspection

Inspections can take up to 2 hours depending on the severity of the damage. Make sure to block out around 2 hours for your inspection. This allows you to have extra time to speak with your roofing contractor and understand the full scope of work that your roof might need.

2. Make Sure All Decision-Makers are Present

It is easy for important details to get lost in translation. All decision-makers must be present for a smooth roof inspection. Not only does this limit confusion, but it also invites the opportunity for everyone involved to have their questions answered.

3. Prepare Questions Beforehand

Depending on the nature of your roof damage, time may be of the essence. It may save you time and stress to prepare any questions you may have for the roof inspector ahead of time to avoid any back and forth.

4. Gather the Declarations Page from Past Insurance Policies

If you are planning to complete your roofing project through insurance, you will want to have your declarations page readily available. Many times there is insurable damage, whether you realize it or not, making this an important step for you in preparing for a roof inspection.

The declarations page summarizes key information about your homeowner’s insurance policy. You can usually find this page at the beginning of your insurance policy documents.

This page is a quick reference guide to essential details that help you understand your coverage. If the roofing company that is completing your inspection has experience with insurance claims, they will be able to help guide you through your declarations page.

It can be easy to find yourself lost when it comes time to have a roof repair or replacement. Between roofing contractors and insurance, you may find yourself somewhat overwhelmed with the process.

However, familiarizing yourself with the roof inspection process can start your roofing project off right. With this information, you can have a smoother process as you deal with a roofing company and your insurance company.

As you move forward through this process, it is important to compare any estimates you receive from a roof inspection. This will help you make the best decision for your roof and your home.

By following these steps, you can feel well-prepared for a roof inspection. At Linta Roofing, our goal is to empower you with the knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of roof repair or replacement, ultimately making the experience more manageable and less stressful for you.
