Are you considering a skylight installation on your roof?

Plenty of our customers have found satisfaction with the installation of a skylight. Skylights allow soft, natural light into your home and they can also provide a cozy feel for a rainy day on the couch. The ambiance of your home is important, after all it is the setting for so many family memories.

The final decision hinges on a balance of financial practicality and how you want your home to feel. To help you decide whether or not a skylight is right for your home, I believe it’s important to outline the cost of installation and the cost to replace a skylight. You can use this article as you navigate decision-making during your roofing project. This way you can go into your roofing project with confidence!

So, how much does a skylight cost in Myrtle Beach?

What is the Cost of a Skylight Installation?

The cost of a new skylight installation can sit between $2,500 to $5,000. This cost includes creating a tunnel between your ceiling and your roof decking in addition to the installation of the flashing and skylight itself. Homeowners who pay on the higher end tend to have a longer distance between their roof decking and their ceiling, meaning that the tunnel is on the longer side and may take a little bit more time and material to install.

What is the Cost of a Skylight Replacement?

Most skylights will need replacing at around the 10-15 year mark. This is due to visible cracks, condensation/fogginess, moisture/leaking, and other signs that it’s time for skylight replacement. Skylights can be prone to these issues over time.

A skylight replacement on your existing roof will usually cost between $1,100 to $1,900. This cost includes removing and discarding the old skylight and installing a new skylight. It may also include the cost to replace flashing if necessary.

Keep in mind, if you have a new skylight installed or an existing skylight replaced during the install of a new roof, you may pay less!
