June 27th, 2024 | 3 min read
When undergoing a roof replacement, homeowners often worry about the mess and debris left behind. What does the roof debris removal process include?
At Linta Roofing, our thorough roof cleanup process ensures your property is left spotless and safe, providing peace of mind at the end of every roof project. Our roofing cleanup process varies depending on the steepness of the roof and the location of the driveway. Which is why I want to write this article – so you know exactly what the clean up process will look like and what to expect for your unique home.
It’s important to note that roof work is messy. We can’t say that everything will be completely spotless throughout your roofing project, but we do promise that you will be happy with the final result. Our meticulous cleanup process ensures your home is left in pristine condition after the job is done. So, let’s talk about what we do to make sure your home is left as clean as possible after your roofing project.
Detailed Roof Cleanup Process by Linta Roofing
The roof debris removal process can look different depending on a few factors like the steepness of your roof and the location of your driveway. But it’s important to know that we clean as we go.
- If a roof is very steep, we will install L-boards to the edge of your roof. L-boards keep debris from going all over the place during the beginning of the roofing project while we remove existing roofing material. L-boards prevent debris from collecting in your gutters. Additionally, we will lay down safety tarps around the perimeter of your home so that debris can be easily collected and removed from your property after the tear off process. In this scenario large pieces of debris will be walked to the dump trailer to be thrown away.
- If you have a shallow pitched roof, we will try to place the dump trailer as close to your home as we possibly can. We will not place a dump trailer on your lawn, so we do the best we can to have the receptacle trailer sit as close to your home as possible based on the layout of your property. This allows us to throw all debris directly into the trailer.
Once we get all of this debris cleaned up, we will look for any smaller pieces of debris that may be on your roof or around your home and clean it up. This would usually include pieces of felt paper or pieces of plastic. And most importantly, we will remove any visible nails that may be laying around and take it to the trash receptacle.
Precautions for Safe Nail Removal After a Roofing Project
It can be dangerous to have nails laying around your home, whether you have children or animals, we want to ensure their safety after your roofing project is complete. So while we actively remove visible nails, there can always be nails left behind that we didn’t see.
That is why we go over your lawn with a magnetic roller to pick up any hidden nails from your lawn. This roller looks a bit like a lawn mower and it is used in the same fashion. We will go back and forth in the same way to make sure the magnetic roller has gone over your entire lawn. For areas like garden bedding, we have a small magnet we use to go over the areas that are too small for the magnetic roller.
Our priority is to make sure that everything is properly cleaned up before the 40-point final inspection of your roof. As mentioned, roofing is a messy job, which is why it’s important that we provide you with a satisfactory clean up and rectification of any possible issues that could arise during the roofing process.
Linta Roofing’s Commitment to Home Damage Prevention and Repair
Although rare, there are times when a roofing project can cause damage to other areas of your home. This can be the case with even the most skilled roofers. Which is why we try our best to prevent damage at all costs, but if damage occurs we have you covered.
In light of being realistic, we know that the roofing process includes clutter, debris, and plenty of waste. If I told you it will look nice throughout the process or that nothing ever gets damaged, I’d be lying. Which is why it is important to address how we respond to damage if it were to happen during our roofing project on your home. It is my promise to you that by the end of our work, your home will be better than when we started.
