There’s nothing worse than being met with a waterfall the moment you step out of your front door.
Often homeowners who don’t have gutters on their home deal with a number of annoying and frustrating situations when it rains. In Myrtle Beach we see a lot of heavy rain throughout the year, which may make you consider getting gutters for your home.
When homeowners ask us about having gutters installed on their home, we’re always met with the same question
“How much would it cost to have gutters put on my home?”
Here we’ll break down the cost of gutters so you can get an idea of how much it will cost to have gutters installed on your home. We’ll go over the details including your preferences, price per linear square foot, and the average price homeowners pay in Myrtle Beach for new gutters.
Let’s get into it!
How Much Do Gutters Cost by the Linear Foot?
For standard 6-inch, white aluminum gutters, you can expect to pay around $12 per linear foot. While the main gutter options include 4-inch, 5-inch, and 6-inch, 6-inch gutters are most common and often most effective in keeping water from overflowing out of the gutters in our experience.
The price for 6-inch gutters can vary based on a few factors.
- Colors: If you want a color other than white, you can expect to pay around $3 more per linear foot.
- This would make the cost around $15 a linear foot for a single story home.
- Additional Stories: If you have more than one story on your home, the average price increase is $3 per linear foot
- For standard white aluminum gutters on a two story home: Around $15 per linear foot
- For a two story home with colored gutters: Around $10 per linear foot.
These are not the only factors included in your final gutter price. If you’re interested in other materials besides aluminum, the price for gutters can vary.
Gutter Material Costs
While aluminum gutters are most common because of their durability and affordability, they’re not the only gutters on the market. You also have the choice between:
- Vinyl: $3 -$6 per linear foot
- Aluminum: $10 - $13 per linear foot
- Copper: $25 - $40 per linear foot
Beyond gutter materials, you will also need gutter downspouts. This ensures that drainage flows nicely and prevents water from damaging your home.
How Much Do Gutter Downspouts Cost?
Gutter downspouts are necessary for directing water away from your home. A gutter downspout is a vertical pipe that carries rainwater from the gutters on the roof down to the ground or a drainage system, helping to keep water away from your home’s foundation.
So, how much do they cost?
- Gutter downspouts are typically priced by the linear foot, around $12 per linear foot. A standard downspout for a one-story home is usually about 10 feet tall, making the cost for each downspout around $120 when installed as part of a system.
- If a downspout is installed separately—outside of a full gutter system—the price may be higher, often around $200 per downspout, due to the additional labor and setup required.
For example: A 50-foot run would typically require two downspouts. For a one-story home, that would be approximately 10 feet per downspout, priced at $12 per linear foot:
- 2 downspouts x 10 ft x $12 = $240
You can use this equation based on the unique elements of your home to get a more specific price. The prices above include material and labor costs. There will be an additional cost for other specifications like removal of old gutters.
What Other Factors Affect Gutter Prices?
The pricing above is for a one-story home. On average, you can expect an additional $2 per linear foot per story. For example, a two-story home would add approximately $2 more per foot, while any building above four stories may require special equipment like manlifts, which can significantly increase the price.
That’s not the only additional cost included in the final price of your new gutters. Here are a few more:
- Seamless vs. Sectional Gutters
- Seamless Gutters: These are the most common in Myrtle Beach. Aluminum is bent on-site into continuous runs. They tend to perform better during heavy storms.
- Sectional Gutters: These are popular among DIYers and sold in segments. Costs vary widely and can be researched on sites like Home Depot.
- Removal of Old Gutters
- Expect to pay $1 to $3 per linear foot to remove existing gutters.
